#116 Eton

The climate of Eton opinion in the twenties and thirties, admirably rendered in Anthony Powell's series of novels ... was detached and sceptical. Widmerpool, its most famous creation, was not, it will be remembered, ever taken so seriously by those who had been his contemporaries there as by the world in general.
